Each and every personal computer or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, together with any apps that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each and every app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer you as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs available and we provide all 3 instead of just 1 since we realize that you may want to install some software that has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are different software packages you may install on the server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you wish to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels too. In case you decide that you need to have a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the present one and set up the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a broader choice for the system environment on the machine as different apps can have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian come with different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and enjoy a stable and risk-free hosting service. Based on your decision, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software which you want to run. We can also update the OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible with our Managed Services upgrade package.
